What Does Norton Security Deluxe Do?

A very powerful antivirus and security software program, Norton Security Deluxe defends against spyware, malware, viruses, phishing, adware, Trojan horses, and many other online threats. It protects your personal information, identity, and your online transactions while making sure that every link you visit and every email you receive comes from a trusted source.

Our Findings

There’s a reason why Norton Antivirus has been around for so long. It’s been a solid protector of personal computers and the data within for years. However, some incarnations of the software have been better than others—and the Norton Security Deluxe promises to cover 5 devices. That’s why we decided to put this version of it to the test. We loaded the software onto 1 desktop PC, 1 laptop PC, 1 Macbook Air, 1 iPhone, and 1 Android phone. We did not try it on a tablet.

 

The software loaded up quickly, but we had to restart it after installation (which was a minor inconvenience). The overall look was clean and modern. The Quick Scan was just that: quick. It took less than 10 minutes—and found a host of problems. While many will just use the Quick Scan, we recommend that you run a Full Scan—especially upon installation. Our full scans took close to an hour, but proved worthwhile. Norton showed a plethora of malware, viruses, and adware programs that were on every one of our devices. We then delved even deeper into the product and utilized the Power Eraser, which deleted these threats handily.

Norton’s User Interface is incredibly easy to navigate through when conducting basic processes, but becomes a bit more difficult when attempting more advanced ones. However, the regular user will not have the need to conduct more advanced actions.

The program crashed once while running on the desktop PC, and we had a few odd issues pop up on the iPhone and Android phone, but nothing major. In the end, Norton found and thwarted between 90% and 97% of the bugs on all five devices.

All in all, our experience with Norton was very positive. Non-tech-savvy individuals may have some issues, but Norton makes it fairly simple to overcome. The dashboard is very easy to run basic operations. However, applying more advanced measures can be a little confusing to newbies.
